Eighth Annual Allstate Best and Worst Drivers Report Released
Cheers to Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Boise, Idaho; Fort Collins, Colorado; Madison, Wisconsin; and Lincoln, Nebraska for being the top five safest cities to drive in, according to Allstate Insurance Company. The safest drivers in large metropolitan areas (those with over a million residents) include Phoenix, Arizona; San Diego, California; San Antonio, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; and Houston, Texas. Congrats to these cities for having the fewest auto accidents on average every ten years.
Jeers to these ten cities that rank as the cities with the worst drivers – according to Allstate:
10. Alexandria, Virginia
9. San Francisco, California
8. Jersey City, New Jersey
7. Hartford, Connecticut
6. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
5. Providence, Rhode Island
4. Newark, New Jersey
3. Glendale, California
2. Baltimore, Maryland
1. Washington, D.C.
Granted there are many reasons why these cities may be the worst places to drive. Among them is the sheer number of vehicles on the roads in these cities. Then there's the highway system, outdated and unable to accommodate so many vehicles, as well as a lack of good, reliable public transportation that people want to use. Of course, it also comes down to individual drivers and the way they drive. Distracted drivers, road rage, and more, all take a toll on giving these cities a mark they probably didn't need.
