The Accident Lawyers Network BlogAccident Lawyers NetworkMonday, January 30, 2012Florida Highway Accident Kills 10An accident on Florida's I-75 caused ten deaths and as many as 18 serious injuries early Sunday morning. The highway was blanketed in thick smoke and haze at the time of the accident, which blinded the drivers. Witnesses say a line of vehicles, including several semi trucks rammed into each other in the haze. Authorities are looking at whether the smoke and haze was from a fire that was set intentionally. The motor vehicle accident site was about a mile long with burned out and crushed vehicles. Witnesses describe running from their vehicles while they listened to victims crying and screaming, as well as explosions from cars that had caught on fire. A total of 12 cars and at least six semi trucks were involved in the accident. Reporters who viewed the accident saw bodies still in the vehicles. One of them had four dead inside it. The fires burned the tires of the vehicles to steel rims, and melted the asphalt on the highway. The interstate was closed almost all of Sunday. At least 62 acres have burned from the fire that caused the car accident.
