The Accident Lawyers Network BlogAccident Lawyers NetworkTuesday, January 25, 2011Brevard County Sees Seven Auto Accident Deaths in Seven DaysSince January 17, Brevard County, Florida has had six accidents with fatalities each day. Seven deaths, each day for a week. Florida Highway Patrol says every accident has been the result of driver error. The accidents have included a tanker truck that collided with a pickup truck, resulting in an explosion, a pedestrian hit by a pickup truck, and another pickup truck that went off the interstate and crashed into a tree. The latest auto accident involved a Toyota sedan that stopped in the right lane near Pineda Causeway and was rear ended by a box truck. The vehicle was pinned beneath the truck and the driver needed to be cut from the wreckage. Police say the driver of the Toyota could have pulled over further to the right, and it is still unclear if he ran out of gas or even had his hazard lights on when he was hit. Since the beginning of January, there have been ten traffic accident deaths in Florida, doubling the number this time last year. A 30-year-old pregnant woman was killed in that crash. According to authorities, Williams was driving her Honda CR-V when she crossed into the path of oncoming traffic and hit a GMC Yukon. The pregnant victim was riding in the front passenger seat of the SUV. Williams' 41-year-old son and her two grandchildren were riding with her at the time of the accident. Her son was critically injured in that accident. In an ironic twist, Williams has been a staunch proponent of seatbelt laws, especially for children, but none of her passengers were wearing them when the auto accident occurred. Williams alleges she can't recall the auto accident, but does have a fuzzy recollection of her son taking off his seatbelt and climbing in the back to help the children put on their pajamas. Doctors were able to successfully deliver the victim's child, a three-pound boy. Sadly, this event will be bittersweet for the family.
