The truck took out a sign and a pole in the accident. Law enforcement officers called a wrecker to the scene of the accident, but the driver was not hurt. He was allowed to go home. Several hours later, there was a report of a body outside the road 150 yards north of where the earlier rollover accident occurred. Investigators say it appears that when the pickup truck crashed, it hit a person walking down the road. The stretch of road is dark, and authorities believe it's possible the driver of the pickup either didn't see the man or realize he'd hit someone. The driver of the pickup truck has not been charged, and may not be due to the circumstances. The identity of the dead individual has not been released. However tragic, this seems to be a case of a pedestrian in the wrong place at the wrong time. If you or a loved one has been struck by a vehicle, please contact an experienced personal injury attorney in your area for an initial and free consultation. posted by Neil at 8:08 AM Tuesday, May 4, 2010Tractor Trailer Wheel Kills Interstate Worker
A woman was killed recently on an interstate in Nebraska after being hit by a wheel that flew off a passing tractor trailer. The woman was working on the interstate when the tractor trailer passed by. Another worker was also injured and was taken to the hospital; at the time of this writing, he is in serious condition with head and back injuries. Although two wheels came off the trailer, the driver was unaware of the problem and continued driving. The truck driver didn’t become aware of the missing wheels even after he stopped to dump the truck’s load. Workers noticed the missing wheels as the tractor drove by and radioed the driver to pull over.
When Nebraska state troopers inspected the rig, 16 violations were found. The negligence of this driver caused the death of one and seriously injured another. Had the driver of this rig performed his job properly, a life could have been saved and the serious injuries of another could have been prevented. Even when truck accidents don't involve an actual collision, they can be deadly. Tractor trailer/truck accidents are often serious and can result in wrongful death or a serious injury, as it did in this case. If you or someone you love has been the victim of a tractor trailer accident, please contact an experienced truck accident attorney in your area today to schedule a confidential, no-cost consultation. posted by Lynn at 9:59 AM E-mail us today to schedule your free initial consultation with an experienced accident attorney.
