The 60 foot long bridge that connects Routes 74 and 194 in Washington Township then collapsed. The driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. The bridge that collapsed was slated for replacement in 2011. It was built in the 1930s. Over two hundred cars cross the bridge everyday and there is no word on how long it will take or how much it will cost to repair the bridge. It is possible that the number of injuries, deaths, and destruction in these types of accidents will increase due to the amount of aging bridges and overpasses in this country. It has been estimated that nearly two-thirds of the bridges and overpasses need some kind of update to keep them standing in the near future.
