Police Officer Killed by Drunk Driver

A Suffolk County, New York police officer was responding to a call over the weekend when his patrol car was hit by a suspected drunk driver. The officer was responding to a call to assist another officer just after 4:00am Sunday when he was hit by a 2007 Dodge Magnum at an intersection.

The 23-year-old driver of the Magnum was arrested on a DWI charge. He also has an open date for another drunken driving incident he was arrested for on January 4th. The veteran officer killed in the crash had been on the force for 22 years.

Drunk driving kills and injures thousands of people a year in the US. The victims of these accidents often have devastating and life-altering injuries. They may be able to collect compensation for medical bills and other economic factors. The families of those who have been killed may be able to file a wrongful death suit against the drunk driver.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an auto accident, please contact an experienced injury lawyer in your area.
